HIV Prevention

PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) is a HIV preventive option. PrEP allows you control over your sexual health and well-being. It offers you another way for you to protect yourself from HIV.
PrEP is for people who are HIV-negative and have a high risk of being exposed to HIV through sex or drug injection.

PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) is an HIV preventive medication option that allows you to take control over your sexual health. PrEP is available in several options: a pill you take once daily or an injection you get bi-monthly. Used in conjunction with condoms, PrEP is highly effective in preventing HIV infection. Studies have shown that PrEP works for EVERYONE who is sexually active. Individuals more vulnerable to being exposed to HIV are:

  • Individuals engaging in condomless sex with multiple partners (of unknown HIV status)
  • Having a partner who is HIV positive
  • Injection Drug Users
  • Tested positive for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) in the last six months

PEP (Post-exposure prophylaxis) is medication taken after a possible HIV exposure within 72 hours to prevent infection. We only offer PEP for established patients. If you were exposed, please go to your nearest emergency/urgent care or medical provider or contact the PEP hotline. For PEP in NYC, contact 844-373-7692. For access outside of NYC, contact 844-737-4669.
