PrEP HIV Prevention

PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) is a HIV preventive option. PrEP allows you control over your sexual health and well-being. It offers you another way for you to protect yourself from HIV.
PrEP is for people who are HIV-negative and have a high risk of being exposed to HIV through sex or drug injection.

PrEP HIV Prevention

What Is PrEP?

PrEP is a new preventive treatment that keeps HIV-negative people from becoming infected.  PrEP is a pill you take once daily or an injection you take bi-monthly and discreetly to stay HIV-negative. Used in conjunction with condoms, it is highly effective in preventing HIV infection. PrEP prevents HIV in people that may be at risk of getting the virus.
Studies have shown that PrEP works for:

  • Heterosexual women and men
  • Sexually-active gay and bisexual men
  • Injection drug users

PrEP can help protect anyone whose partner has HIV, or anyone who doesn’t know their partner’s HIV status. Similar to any other daily medication, PrEP reduces the risk of HIV with one pill a day.
