What is the DAISY Award?
According to the DAISY FoundationTM, the DAISY Award honors nurses internationally in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. As Patrick’s family, after brainstorming what to do in his memory they vividly recalled the skillful and compassionate care Patrick received from his nurses during his eight-week hospitalization. Wanting to say “thank you” to nurses everywhere, they established a recognition program, The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses (The DAISY Award). Through this they and we together, honor the super-human work nurses do for patients and families in our communities every day.
