Cardiac Arrest Testimonial

We brought our son to the ER at St. John’s Riverside Hospital with a stomach issue. Five minutes before he was discharged, my husband suddenly went into cardiac arrest. He fell forward, started snoring, turned purple—and in a flash the ER staff jumped into action.

They took him into a room immediately, and his heart stopped. I was hysterical, attempting to calm my son, as a nurse explained they were working on getting a heartbeat. My family soon arrived, and finally, the doctors were able to revive my husband. They stabilized him and later transferred him to Montefiore to proceed with his treatment.

I was just amazed at how fast and coordinated the team was—they worked in seconds and with such skill. I have no doubt they saved his life.

My husband is only 48, and we’re lifelong Yonkers residents. We’ve always depended on St. John’s for our care—the doctors and nurses are smart, competent, and compassionate. But after this experience, I am forever grateful, because they didn’t only treat my husband, they gave us more time together. –Christina Villanueva (Jason’s wife)
