Our goal is to provide our patients, and their families, with skilled, individualized care and support, throughout the surgical experience and hospital stay. We will work closely with you from the time of your child's pre-admission visit, through the surgical procedure and discharge process, as well as continue to be available to you for support and direction after discharge.
In an effort to make the hospital and surgical experience more predictable and less frightening for both you and your child, we thoroughly and feel free to direct any questions you may have to your child's surgeon, or to the ASU offer a program allowing one parent to accompany their child into the Operating Room (OR), and stay with the child until he/she is asleep. You may also be allowed to enter the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) when your child is awake following surgery.
We have developed a booklet to prepare you for this experience. If you would like a copy of it, please call our Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU) at 914-964-4576. Please read it Nursing Staff on the day of your child's pre-admission visit for interview and testing.
You will not be alone!
We are here to help prepare and guide you through this time, in hopes of transforming a potentially frightening situation, into one of prepared calmness, with the support and guidance of friendly, familiar faces, and positive outcomes for all.
