Health Institute


Continuing Education

The continuing education division of Riverside Health Care System is known as the Institute for Health Education and Research. The Institute offers programs and seminars for both health care professionals and the public. The Institute is committed to:

bullet  Provide continuing education on health care issues for professionals and the public

bullet  Promote awareness of current research and technology in health care and health care delivery

bullet  Serve as a resource center for professional and non-professional groups, and the community

bullet  Offer programs focusing on concepts, practices and research related to health care and health care delivery

Certified Nurse Aide
Course

This course will prepare the participant for the New York State Certified Nursing Assistant Exam. Completion of certification requirements allows you to seek work in a hospital or a long term care facility.


Phlebotomy / EKG Certificate Program

A six (6) week certificate program that will prepare you for immediate entry into the healthcare field.


Child Birth Education Classes / Baby Courses

bullet Child Birth Education (Lamaze)

bullet Refresher Class


CPR for the Community

Heart Saver
This course is meant for all members of the community.


CPR for the Health Care Provider

The following courses are available:


Basic Life Support (
BLS)

This course is meant for the Health Care Provider. Initial and re-certification


Advanced Cardiac Life Support (
ACLS)

Initial and re-certification


Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

New guidelines: PALS Certification and Re-certification providers are required to take both days to receive certification.


NEW Vital Signs Program


Learn How To Take:

          
          bullet Blood Pressures
          bullet Pulse and Respirations
         
bullet Temperature Readings


Also covers, Infection Control, Patient Safety and Confidentiality. Some medical experience required.


The cost is $125 for a six hour course. It is held in the Cochran School of Nursing Skills Lab S-2 Level.  Pre-registration is required.
